Simple syrup is easy to make at home.  Just boil 1 cup water and stir in 1 cup of sugar and stir until it’s dissolved.  If you want to add a special savory flavor, toss in a spring of rosemary or sage.  Or zest lemons or limes and soak the zest.  Let it simmer gently with the sugar and water blend for two minutes, then just turn it off and let it sit on the stove until it’s cool.  Store in the refrigerator.  You’ll find lots of ways to use it!
